Author: Professor Waleed Al-Zubari

Professor of Water Resources Management (WRM) at the Arabian Gulf University, Coordinator of the graduate WRM Program and UN Water Learning Center for Arab Region. Serves as a member of the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee of the Water Resources Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain. obtained his PhD in 1990 in the field of groundwater mathematical modeling from Colorado State University. Teaches graduate courses in the fields of planning, management, and development of water resources in arid regions and hydrogeology. Published more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and symposia; supervised more than 60 master's and doctoral theses. His research interests include managing the WEF nexus; governance, planning, and management of water resources; use of numerical mathematical models in groundwater systems management; and the impact of climate change on the water sector. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arab Gulf Journal of Scientific Research (2006-2010). Conducted more than 50 contractual studies, and serves as a consultant for several UN, international, and regional organizations. He currently serves as Vice President of the GCC Water Science and Technology Association (WSTA) and chairs its Scientific and Training Affairs Committee. He received the ALECSO Award for Best Arab Researcher in the Field of Water Resources in 2002. Currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, of which he was one of its winners for his book "Water Issues and Challenges in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries" in 2008.
